Job Description

Primary Job Functions:
Work safely and identify and mitigate electrical design, construction and operational SHE risks
Generate load forecasts, identify expansion needs and efficiently execute projects in a dynamic environment supporting a sustained development program
Power infrastructure management on small utility scale including system modeling and load forecasting
Surveil power systems and perform annual system planning to support power contract negotiations, major system expansions and field electrification programs. Monitor power demand vs capacity.
Provide technical support to high voltage electrical equipment preventative maintenance program
Manage multiple projects with moderate complexity. Engineering support will include options analysis/selection, design, AFE management, procurement, drawings creation, construction support, commissioning support/start-up and post start-up modifications.
Job Requirements:
Project management (substations, switching stations and overhead distribution/transmission power lines)
Substation and High Voltage Motor control systems (reclosers, protection equipment, voltage regulators, KVAR correction capacitors).
Substation, Power distribution, transmission, and generation equipment maintenance and troubleshooting
Protective relay setting, testing, and coordination
Management of third party engineering firms
Applying NFPA 70E Electrical Safety in the Workplace (Arc Flash)
Application of equipment and circuits in hazardous locations
Selection & specification of substations, transformers, switchgear, reclosers, protective relays, HV/MV power cables
Troubleshooting electrical equipment and distribution problems
Application of regulations and standards applicable in the U.S. (NEC, API 14F)
Substation and HV Power system and generation equipment maintenance and troubleshooting
NETA MTS for electrical maintenance and inspection
B.S. In Electrical Engineering or a related field with 10-15 years experience.

Job Requirements

Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Knowledgeable of ERCOT and SPP grid design, operation and capabilities
Strong analytic and communication skills
Understanding of microgrids, cogeneration and renewable energy sources
Power system modeling using industry software such as Milsoft, ACSELERATOR, SKM, Quickset
Networking/field communications: DNP3, Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP/IP, Modbus RTU/RS-485/RS-232. MQTT, Radio and fiber optic communications, managed network switches, etc
SCADA implementation and support
Programming background (Python)
Lead and motivate team members
Self starter
Able to manage multiple projects with tight timelines
